RETRO FUTURISM MADE MODERN
Film Design - ALIENS x Predator Cinematic Universe
X-BIKE concept: What if Weyland-Yutani & HONDA made a motorbike together for a late 80's sci-fi film? A retro-future project for fans of 80’s sci-fi, nostalgia, technology, & HONDA motorbikes.
The main “X” design theme is inspired by the Predator character’s iconic mandible jaws and articulated arms of the Weyland-Yutani Powerloader. Story wise this follows the idea of the Weyland corporation studying this life-form and adapting its features into its own technology, as the 4x articulated arms of the front suspension mimic the movements of the Yautja creatures anatomy. This is a visual metaphor continuing one of the main storytelling themes of the film, that of subverting the ultimate hunter role of the Predator, itself being pursued as prey to the Weyland-Yutani mega-corporation. The overall design language was developed as a composite of iconic retro HONDA motorbike cues and the design language of Weyland-Yutani technology within the film universe.
